Shabnam Moghadami was born on March 23, 1972 in Tehran. She completed secondary school in experimental sciences and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Persian literature, later training at the Amin Tarokh Acting School. Her professional career began in the late 1990s with theatre, as a member of the Shaya Theatre Group, alongside work as a presenter and actress on Radio Javan, Radio Iran and Radio Farhang. On stage she has worked with directors including Hamid Amjad, Mohammad Rahmanian, Mas'oud Rayegan and Keyumars Moradi, and was named Best Actress by the House of Iranian Theatre in both 2006 and 2009. She made her film debut in Injured (1997), with In the Name of the Father (2005), directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia, marking her breakthrough. In the 2010s she won two Crystal Simorgh awards for Best Supporting Actress — for Today (2014) and for Breath and Spare (2016) — alongside a substantial body of television work including Under the Blade, Madinah and Haft Sang. In recent years she has also narrated audiobooks and published her first novel.
